I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our community for your support of our Terry Fox fundraising campaign. We smashed our goal of $2500.00 and now I need to make good on my pledge. Between what has been donated online and other funds that were submitted at school, we have raised over $3000.00. The Terry Fox Foundation will leave our fundraising page open until Spring Break, so that total may rise still: https://schools.terryfox.ca/100280. If we look back over the past 30 years Cheam has participated in Terry Fox School Runs, our school has raised in excess of $45,000.00. Not too shabby for a tiny country school!

My pledge had been to run a personal marathon if we reach our goal. Time to lace up! I'm working on a route I'll call 'Around the 'Wack and Back'. I'll share the specific details as soon as I can. I am targeting November 14th as my run day. Stay tuned!

In other news, I want to tell you how proud I am of our students for their confident and responsible behaviour during our various emergency drills. It may not seem like such a big deal to them, but it makes a world of difference for our staff to know our students can remain calm and know exactly what to do to ensure each other's safety.

I'd also like to acknowledge our intermediate students for showing such great leadership, some as supportive Peer Helpers on the playground, and some as friendly ambassadors for our school through inter-school sports.  Our soccer teams have been performing well and are ready for the tournament during the first week of November. The specific schedule hasn't been set yet.

Finally, I want to wish all our 'trunk or treaters' well tonight. Thanks so much to our PAC for hosting another fun community event. I'm sure the rain will hold off!
